Updated Upstairs and Downstairs In The Beach Cottage Dollhouse
I've been working a little on the smaller dollhouse. The one Mr. Dollcrazey calls the Pepto Bismol house. I got a couple of pieces for the kitchen. Actually I had the table but the legs were broken so I bent them back into shape and re-glued them. The sink and stove cabinet is a Kidkraft wooden piece from a yard sale. I think I'm going to cut a hole in the top and drop in a Barbie sink. I also got both ceiling fans made and installed. They don't operate, just manually turn. I'm not doing electric. The flooring is cut into place but not glued yet. Still lots to do downstairs.
These living room pieces came with the dollhouse when I got it from Craigs List. They were covered in white damask upholstery fabric that was kind of thick. I didn't like them at all. I was trying to remove some lint because I was going to try and sell them on eBay and I accidentally uncovered this pink chenille underneath. I love it. It's perfect for the Pepto Bismol house. They are very heavy and have a tag underneath with someone's name from South Dakota. I guess they were hand made. The arms need cleaning and I want to put some little legs on the bottom so they sit up a bit higher but other than that they are great. I'm so glad I didn't sell them.
The upstairs has some painted furniture now. The bed was also a Kidkraft piece that had a tall arm above the headboard that originally held a net covering. I sawed it off and painted the headboard and foot board blue. I need some foam for a mattress and I'm going to find a cutter quilt with tiny patchwork to craft a bedspread. The dresser I had but it had dark dirty yellow drawers so I updated them with paint that matches the color of the frame on the wall. That I got at Michaels for a buck and printed a sailboat picture from the internet to put inside. There will be a rug and nightstand eventually. And probably other stuff. We're far from done, just a bit of progress. I'm having fun.
