Wave 1 Draculaura and Naked Holt Hyde Pre-Owned Dolls
I bought these from on eBay the other day - not from the same seller. I'm delighted with Draculaura but right away I regretted buying Holt. I thought I could get some clothes for him separately, not necessarily the outfit he came with, but something to make him into his typical fiery self. I should have checked around first. Once I buy him some duds I will have spent more than I would have if I had waited and pounced on an auction with everything included. I can always try to sell him but it's not likely I'll get back what I invested after I pay eBay fees and shipping. But one thing I learned is that I really like Holt. Look at that cool flaming hair. So I'm sure one way or the other I'll end up with the complete ensemble eventually.
I've written before that I like to buy used Monster High dolls on eBay. They are less expensive and I don't have to be concerned that I may be opening a doll that could be a collectible someday. I continue to look for great deals on gently played with dolls online.
Draculaura was just such a find. She's the Wave One version, has all her parts and accessories, and was very inexpensive. Little Count Fabulous is a cute little pet bat. One of her ponytail holders broke as I was posing her. I found a little black rubber band to use in it's place for now. The only other thing I can see wrong with her is her stand has some markings on it. I'll try to get it cleaned up with Magic Eraser and if it doesn't work I don't care.
While I'm on the subject of used Monster High dolls, I wanted to point out that there are other places to look for them. I saw some on Craig's List in my area the other day. There were 33 of them PLUS a bunch of the furniture and accessories like Draculaura's car and Lagoona Blue's hydration station. Quite a few of the original boy dolls like Holt Hyde and Gil Webber too. They were all in excellent shape and the seller only wanted $250 because her daughter had outgrown them and didn't play with them anymore. Unfortunately it was the exact day I had to make my house payment so I didn't have the money to buy them. And they were gone within a few days. Dang it! Do I really need a house - really? Whoever got that lot is a very lucky person. I am still kicking myself for missing out.
So if you don't find what you want on eBay you can always look other places. I've seen a couple at yard sales but they were dolls I already owned so I didn't buy them. So far I haven't run across any at thrift stores but I've heard reports of people finding dolls there. Just keep looking and eventually non-collectors will start getting rid of their dolls. That's my plan anyway.
